Les Sept Vallées in Northern France, where Alexis has had a painting studio for twenty years, comes alive with the seasons, as she paints to capture her love of rural France, the trees and farm buildings that surround her.

Most of all, she captures the light that has been extolled in many paintings of the past; the painters Corot, Pissaro and Caillebotte who ventured to this coast for the light beloved of Parisians who flocked to the great silvery coast of Le Touquet and St - Omer.

She builds up the impression of this light in a formal way, so that the paintings shimmer as only they can; being painted, as the impressions did, out in the summery fields of this area, brilliant with soft light and the sounds of a France that is fast disappearing, silent and secret, romantic and sensual.
