This series came about from a wish to make work from my inner-city environment, specifically Camden Town in London, that was made famous by Sicket's Camden Town series of murdered prostitutes. As I don't drive, and walk through the city, I have the opportunity to observe those who frequent the same streets, the lost, the abused, the procurers and the survivors. They were transformed into symbolic beings and I tried to capture the strangeness of feral beauty.
To get the images I sketched off wildlife programmes on TV of predatory hyenas, wolves, prairie dogs hunting their victims, the deer and other animals that symbolise innocence.
